Best Roofing Companies in Zebulon NC

Written by Jonathan Kennedy | Mar 31, 2023

When you’re starting your roofing project in North Carolina, you need to find an experienced roofing company that you can trust, and will be able to install a roof that you can rely on for the decades to come.

Your new roof is a big investment! With roofing costs getting into the tens of thousands of dollars, you have to be able to feel comfortable with the work that your contractor will complete, and that they won’t leave you hanging with a leaky, poorly installed roof.

In the areas around Raleigh, there are loads of contractors knocking on doors, offering cheap replacements that may not actually solve the problems at hand. This is especially true for a town like Zebulon, where there are not as many well-established roofing contractors, and several of the homes in the area are reaching the point where their roofs are getting up there in age.

So, in an effort to help you sort through some of the roofing noise, we’re going to be going over:

Before we get started, one quick note: none of the companies on this list are ranked in any order, and we also have not had personal interactions with any of these companies. All of the information presented here is based on what we see in their Google Reviews and on their websites.

Alright, here we go!

What to consider when looking at roofing materials

Now that you’ve learned about some good companies that you can reach out to, how do you know what kind of material you want them to install on your roof? There are a few key points that you can look at to help you decide what you might want on there.

One of the main ones is the size and shape of your roof. If your roof is particularly large, steep, or complex, it will dictate what can be put on it. For example, slate roofs are incredibly heavy, so if your roof is large and isn’t built to handle that weight, you can say goodbye to that option. Also, super steep roofs often can’t be installed with heavier roofing materials, as the risk of them falling becomes greater, as would the damage that comes from that.

Another big one is what kind of climate you live in, and the sorts of weather that your home will be exposed to. For example: in some parts of the world, like the Southwestern U.S., materials like asphalt shingles are almost unusable because of the heat that they would attract. The sun would dry out the shingles in no time, and cause them to wear much faster, so they aren’t used very frequently.

On the other hand, if your roof is going to be exposed to frequent wind and heavy rain, you might be looking more at a metal roof, because it has a better ability to stand up to such weather. Asphalt shingles are best suited for a more temperate climate, which is part of why they are so popular across North America.

The last thing that you’ll absolutely need to consider while picking the material is a big one, your budget. You can only put on your roof what you can afford, so that will be a majorly determining factor in what goes on your roof.

Because of all of the other steps involved in a roof replacement, it’s hard to give accurate price ranges for all of these materials, but what we can do is give a price range for the materials themselves. The most expensive roofing materials are going to be the slate tile and wood shake roofs, both of which can run you between $20 and $30 per square foot. A step down from that should be a standing seam roof, at around $15 per square foot.

On the lowest end of the cost spectrum, you’ll find the three main types of asphalt shingles, three-tab, architectural, and luxury. These three will likely cost somewhere between $4 and $10 per square foot, with three-tab's on the low end, and luxury shingles on the high end.

Hopefully after all of this, you’re starting to feel more ready and comfortable getting started on your roofing project in Zebulon!

As we mentioned earlier, we are a local roofing company that works in and around Zebulon. You may have noticed that we didn't include ourselves on this list, but that's not because we don't think we're one of the top roofing companies in town.

We're confident in our work, and experience, but we understand that we aren't going to be the best fit for everyone, so we want to make sure that homeowners that don't choose us will be going for a quality company that won't take advantage of them, and help them through the process.

On Tops Roofing has been working with Zebulon homeowners since our doors opened in 1991. Whatever your roofing project needs to fix, we’re on it!
