The 5 Best Roofing Companies in Goldsboro, NC for 2025
Want to know who the top Goldsboro NC roofing contractors are? Ask someone in the industry who really knows the roofing scene inside and out!
When a roofing job isn’t done right, the consequences go far beyond inconvenience. Leaks, structural damage, and even mold can quickly follow. That's why I put together this guide to help you make a solid choice!
In coastal cities like Wilmington, where roofs face salt air, heavy rain, and hurricane-force winds, getting your replacement done correctly is even more critical. Your home’s first line of defense has to be installed with precision.
In this article, I’ll cover Wilmington’s top roofing companies, explain what you can expect to pay for replacements and repairs, and give you key questions to ask before you sign a contract.
Let’s get started.
You might be wondering why a roofing company that works in Wilmington would openly talk about other roofers.
The reason is simple, our priority is helping North Carolina homeowners make informed, confident decisions about their roofs. We think homeowners deserve better than a pay-to-play listing site or random directory.
We’re a family-run and veteran-owned business that’s been serving North Carolina homeowners since 1991. We have offices in Raleigh and Wilmington with decades of experience across eastern NC, so we know the unique challenges roofs near the coast face. Over the years, we’ve seen incredible craftsmanship, and we’ve also seen jobs that unfortunately missed the mark.
The truth is, we’re not always the right fit for everyone. Wilmington has some excellent contractors, along with a few you may want to avoid.
My goal in writing this is to give you a clear, honest look at the local roofing scene. Whether you decide to work with us or another company, you’ll have the information you need to choose wisely and feel good about your decision.
Let’s dive in and take a look at the best roofing companies in Wilmington!
Here are the companies I've identified as the best in Wilmington, in no particular order:
Monarch Roofing offers roof replacements, including metal and asphalt shingle, gutters and storm damage restoration. They have the GAF Master Elite certification, allowing them to offer extended manufacturer warranties. Monarch has locations in Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, and Hilton Head, so they have quite a big service area. For residential, their site says they work with shingles, tile, slate, and metal. Monarch is also certified through GAF for commercial roofing and has certified roof inspectors on their team.
Flores & Foley Roofing is a Wilmington-based contractor that has ben in business since 1999. They handle both residential and commercial projects, offering roof replacements, repairs, and gutters. They work with a range of roofing systems including asphalt shingles, metal, tile, slate, and low-slope applications. Flores & Foley holds a CertainTeed ShingleMaster Select certification that allows them to offer extended warranties, and they are certified to install Fortified roofs.
IBC Roofing is a contractor serving residential and commercial clients throughout eastern North Carolina. They install CertainTeed roofing products and handle new roof installations, replacements, and repairs. In addition to asphalt shingles, their team works with slate, tile, metal systems, and spray foam applications. The company is accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating and also offers emergency repair services.
Alpha Roofing is a Wilmington-based general contractor that focuses on residential roofing and exterior services. The company holds CertainTeed ShingleMaster certification and is also a GAF Solar installer. Their work includes new roof installations, roof replacements, and repairs, as well as Fortified roofing systems. Beyond roofing, Alpha provides gutter installation, gutter guards, and gutter cleaning, along with solar roofing projects. They have a gallery on their site where you can check out previous work in the area as well.
Summit Roofing is a Wilmington contractor that provides both residential and commercial roofing services. In addition to roof replacements and repairs, they handle siding replacement projects and are an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which allows them to offer extended manufacturer-backed warranties. Summit also installs Fortified roofing systems and makes financing options available for qualifying homeowners.
That wraps up our look at some of the roofing companies serving Wilmington. You may still be wondering what the process looks like, what it should cost, or how to know if you’re making the right choice. To help with that, I’ve included some additional guidance below that can make the decision a little easier.
When I put this list together, I focused on the same things you should look for when hiring a roofing contractor in Wilmington.
Longevity matters. A company that’s been around for years is more likely to be there to honor a warranty and has the experience that comes with hundreds or thousands of installs.
Certifications are another key factor. If you know which manufacturer you want, like GAF, CertainTeed, or Owen's Corning, it’s worth choosing a roofer certified by that brand. If you’re not sure, a contractor with multiple manufacturer certifications can give you more options in styles, price points, and extended warranty coverage.
Installation quality is more important than the product. Even if you’re working with a budget shingle, an experienced crew will install it properly so it lasts. Most leaks in the first 15 years are due to poor installation, not the shingle itself. A quality company will not let crews cut corners and will supervise the job with a close eye.
Reviews tell the story. Even the best company will have a few unhappy customers, but if you see a pattern of complaints that aren’t addressed, that’s a red flag. A good contractor will take care of issues, not ignore them.
Finally, it’s important to choose a company that’s here to stay. After storms, Wilmington often sees “storm chaser” contractors who disappear as quickly as they arrive. A local company with roots in the community is far more reliable long term.
The elephant in the room! How much is all this going to cost me.
It's a valid question, and one most roofing companies like to save for a sales appointment. But, we want you to be informed and prepared for this conversation as early as possible. Here is my best attempt to help you estimate the cost of your roof in Wilmington (and most of the North Carolina coast).
Figuring out what you’ll pay for a new roof or repair isn’t as simple as pulling up a standard price list. Every project is unique. The total cost depends on things like the size and shape of your roof, what materials you pick, and how complicated the job is.
The best way to estimate the cost of a new roof (without measuring) is first by taking the square footage of your home and dividing it by the number of floors. For example, if your home is 1,000 square feet and 1 story, we'll use 1,000. If it is 3,000 square feet and 2 stories, we'll use 1,500 square feet as the size.
Next, we'll multiply that number by 1.5 because we have to account for slope and waste. I combined two ideas here (pitch factor and waste factor) which is covered in more detail on our pricing page, but for most homes this is a good estimate. So, if your home has a 1,000 square foot area and we multiply it by 1.5, we'll get 1,500 square feet to use in the next step.
Now, we'll multiply that number by our cost per square foot. In Wilmington, the average roof costs between $5 and $7 per square foot. This is for asphalt shingles, including tear-off, installation of your new roof, clean up, and a warranty. So, our 1,500 square foot roof will cost between $7,500 and $10,500.
The range of prices covers dormers, ventilation type, shingle selection, chimneys, warranties, and other options.
Still, I want to give you some real numbers we've seen for asphalt shingle roofs we have installed in Wilmington. Looking at the roofs we’ve replaced over the past few years, we’ve seen the average installation cost land around $13,700. Most replacements fall in the range of $8,400 to $18,200.
If you’re considering premium shingles or metal roofing, expect prices to be a good bit higher. Quality metal roofs average around $12-15 per square foot. More complex roofs or projects with extra repair needs can push the total up as well.
Roof repair pricing can swing quite a bit depending on the type of problem and whether the leak has already caused hidden damage. The ranges below assume you’re hiring a licensed contractor for a quality repair:
Minor fixes: Small jobs like sealing an exposed nail, swapping out a shingle or two, or redoing failed caulking typically run $350–$500.
Moderate repairs: If you need new pipe boots, need a section of flashing replaced, or have roof decking damage, costs usually fall between $500 and $1,500.
Major repairs: Storm damage, large leaks, or issues involving skylights can be in the $1,500 to $5,000 range. These projects require more time, material, and expertise to properly repair.
Catching problems early is the best way to keep costs under control. Waiting too long can let small leaks spread and turn into far more expensive repairs.
When comparing estimates, remember that the lowest number isn’t always the best deal. Quotes that seem too good to be true might involve cutting corners, overstating what will be done, or using materials that won’t hold up. Spending a bit more upfront for quality work pays off by reducing the need for repeat fixes or premature replacement.
Be sure to clarify what’s included in your quote! If you have a leak, there's a chance your roof decking (the plywood your shingles are nailed to) might have damage as well. You want your roofer to repair this damage if it exists. These repairs may add to the price, but they’re critical to making sure your roof performs the way it should for years to come.
Homeowners often ask us which shingle brand is the “best,” and the truth is, there isn’t a single right answer. The three manufacturers we recommend most often are Owens Corning, GAF, and CertainTeed. Each has a wide range of styles and price points, and reliable performance when installed correctly.
Other brands like Tamko, IKO, and Atlas also make solid shingles, but we've had the best experience installing the "big 3" brands.
If you prefer to shop with companies that support the North Carolina economy, CertainTeed manufactures many of their shingles right here in North Carolina and GAF produces their metal roofing accessories in Pender County.
The important thing to remember is that all of these brands produce shingles that can last 25 years or more when properly installed. Each brand has different models at different price points, so the right choice often comes down to your budget, the look you want, and which manufacturer certifications your contractor carries.
At the end of the day, the installation matters more than the logo on the bundle. Even the most premium shingle won’t perform as it should if it’s installed poorly. That’s why choosing a contractor with the right experience and certifications is the key to getting the most out of whichever brand you go with.

In roofing, experience matters. I would recommend picking a company that has been in business at least 10 years. Most of all, make sure the contractor you pick has a proven history and a reputation you can trust. Over the years, I’ve watched plenty of roofing companies pop up and disappear just as quickly. If a roofer goes out of business, even the best warranty won’t do you much good. Choosing a well-established, reputable company means you’ll have someone to rely on if any issues come up or you need to use your warranty down the road.
A trustworthy roofing company will always carry both liability and workers’ compensation insurance to protect you, their team, and your property.
Liability insurance covers you if the roofing company accidentally causes damage or an accident while working on your home, so you’re not left responsible for property damage, injuries, or unexpected legal costs.
Workers’ compensation insurance protects the roofing crew if someone is injured or has an accident on your property. It covers medical bills, lost income, and rehab costs for any team member hurt on the job.
When a roofing company carries both types of insurance, they’re showing they take safety and responsibility seriously by protecting both you and their team from unexpected risks. This level of accountability should be non-negotiable when deciding who to trust with your project.
When searching for roofing contractors in Goldsboro, it is highly recommended to ask whether they hold a general contractors license. Surprisingly, in North Carolina, contractors don’t need a general license for projects under $30,000. Crazy right? Some people in roofing say a license isn’t needed, but I strongly disagree. Having a license shows a contractor values professionalism and has the expertise to deliver quality work. Your roof is a major investment meant to protect your home for decades. It just makes sense to hire a contractor with proven knowledge and skills for the job.
A reputable roofing company will offer two types of warranties: manufacturer warranties and workmanship warranties.
Manufacturer warranties cover defects or issues with the roofing materials, such as algae staining or premature wear. You'll sometimes see these advertised as "lifetime" which generally means as long as you own the house.
Workmanship warranties, on the other hand, protect against any problems arising from mistakes during installation. These types of warranties are usually provided by the roofing company you choose and last 5 - 10 years. You can always ask the company to see a copy of their warranty before signing a proposal. If the company stands behind their work, they'll gladly show you what their warranty does and does not cover.
Like most products, roofing materials come in a variety of price points. Some roofing companies use "builder-grade" products and others use high-end or luxury ones.
A trustworthy roofing company should be well-versed in all the different types of shingles and roofing accessories on the market. They should be able to help you find the right shingles for your budget and use case.
Another important consideration is to know if the roofing company is installing a "certified" roofing system. Most asphalt shingle brands also make all the other components (like ridge vent, ridge cap shingles, or underlayment) that are required to install a new roof. If your contractor chooses to install other brands accessories to save money, your roof might not be eligible for an extended warranty or guarantee. The best roofing companies typically recommend sticking with one manufacturer because the parts all work together and help you get the best warranty options.
This is a common question that many homeowners have when facing roofing repairs or replacements, especially after hail damage. The answer depends on your insurance provider, your policy details, and what caused the damage to your roof.
Usually, homeowner’s insurance will pay for repairs if the damage was caused by a sudden event like hail, a storm, fire, or vandalism. But if the damage comes from normal aging or lack of upkeep, insurance probably won’t cover it. It's important to thoroughly review your insurance policy and discuss any potential coverage with your roofing company beforehand.
